"Be oriented toward..." 工作時記住這句英文,升遷加薪就不遠了

你是歸國MBA,還有一手的證照,自認專業能力無可挑剔,卻總是與加薪升遷擦肩而過?不妨想想問題是否出在欠缺「職場軟實力」!

什麼是「職場軟實力」?《財星雜誌》(Fortune)500大企業的顧問Henry Cloud曾在著作「Integrity: The Courage to Meet the Demands of Reality」中,提出了軟實力所包含的「六大內在素質」。他認為,「健全的性格」(Character)比工作技能更為重要,他是這麼說的:

“That is why success and fruitfulness depend as much upon focusing on the ‘who’ you are as the ‘what’ of the work you do. Invest in your character, and it will give you the returns that you are looking for by only investing in the work itself. You can’t do the latter without the former.”

以下,我們不妨來看看Cloud提出的「六大內在素質」各是什麼,透過自我檢視,提升自己的能量,讓下一波的升遷名單中,不再獨漏自己。

1. Connect authentically.
團結力量大,而團隊合作的過程中必須確實地溝通,以求建立信任。

2. Be oriented toward truth.
面對事實、不隱藏,才有機會解決問題,因此成功人士必定具備能夠認清真相的能力。

3. Get results.
工作者須懷抱使命必達的信念,但也要擁有放手的智慧。

4. Embrace problems and failures and resolve them.
考驗,正是提升自己的機會,因此請正向積極地擁抱問題,並且解決它們。

5. Be oriented toward growth.
領導者多半懂得自我激勵,同時幫助他人成長,切莫自掃門前雪。

6. Be oriented toward transcendence.
想要壯大自己,必須先向比自己強大的人事物學習,請務必找到目標,然後以其為努力方向。

附帶一提,Cloud還說了:

"The immature character asks life to meet his demands. But the mature character meets the demands of life."(不成熟者希冀生活符合他的要求,成熟者則是迎合生活要求。)

若是一直得不到公司認同、主管青睞,先別急,想想對方的需求是什麼,若能先滿足它們,還怕之後得不到讚賞嗎?
